SEOUL, October 14 (Yonhap) -- "The eleventh Frankfurt Korean Film Festival," Germany's biggest Korean film festival, will open on October 20 and end on October 26 at two cinemas.
The "Project K Association," which consisted of the general consulate and locals interested in Korean culture, selected the movie "Hunt," in which actor Lee Jung-jae made his debut as a director, as the opening film. The movie "Hunt" was invited to the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and more.
21 films will be screened including "Emergency Declaration," which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival, "The Hill of Secrets," invited to the Berlin International Film Festival as the children and teenager movie section, "The Outlaws," "Alienoid," and "Hansan."
Director Hong Sang-soo's new monochrome film "The Novelist's Film," which received the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize, will be the closing film of the film festival.
Different programs to provide an experience of Korean culture will be prepared during the film festival period.
The Germany branch of the Korea Agro Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation will be introducing Korean finger foods and traditional liquors at the reception.
On screening days, the festival will also be preparing Korean food testing events made with fermented sauce and different cocktails made with Korean liquors in collaboration with a German bartender.
The Frankfurt branch of the Korea Tourism Organization will be promoting Korea's tourist spots to people who are interested in Hallyu and provide programs such as trying out Hanbok (Korean traditional costume) and experiencing Korean arts and crafts.
The Korea Studies major at the University of Goethe University Frankfurt will be introducing their Hangul (alphabetic script of Korean) workshop and experiencing study abroad in Korea.
The German K-pop community "Remarkable" will be holding a K-pop contest to induce the participation of Hallyu fans.
