SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- “I hope that one will be able to gain a new mindset through my songs. I hope that these songs will make you think about the time and moment passing by carelessly.”
"This moment will also pass and become a memory, and there will be a time when I'll be thinking about these moments," singer Heize said, at a press conference held online to commemorate the release of her 2nd regular album "Undo" on Thursday. "I hope you'll spend each and every moment thinking that this moment will also eventually be a memory."
The reason she brought out the keyword "time" is because the theme of this 2nd album is time and memories.
Along with the title song "Undo," it will contain 10 songs including "Sad ending," "I Don't Lie," "Thief," and "Traveler."
About this album, Heize said, "There are hidden messages throughout the album that tells about the moment one wants to go back to, but the moment one can never go back to."
The title song "Undo" is about pretending like nothing ever happened after a breakup. Heize, who have received a lot of love from the public for her breakup songs, came out with a song similar yet different to the previous ones.
"It contains the message that the moments I cried and laughed because of you will become 'non-existent' from today," Heize said. "Although I wrote a lot of songs about break ups, this song feels different because it is about telling oneself to get back to your senses."
"I was able to write a song quickly because I had memories that fell perfectly with my situation," she added.
Heize showed off her singer-songwriter skills by directly participating in writing and composing all the 9 songs except "About Time," from the album. In addition to the music video for the title song, she also made a "track video" for all the songs on the album, setting the qualities for her album even higher.
Heize has been loved by the public for her songs related to rain, including "You, Clouds, Rain" (2017) and "On Rainy Days" (2021). What could rain mean to her?
"I find comfort from music and rain," said Heize. "During the journey of life, a typhoon may blow or a sunny day may come, but that doesn't last. I hope everyone lives like a traveler."
"I want to be the 'farewell master' and 'Goddess of Rain'. I want to keep this character and solidify it. Haha."
