SEOUL, Jan. 27 (Yonhap) – South Korean singer-songwriter and actress Lee Ji-eun, also known by her stage name IU, and actor Park Bo-gum will appear in the soon-to-be-aired drama series “Good Work (translated),” production company Fan Entertainment announced Friday.

The two hit stars have confirmed their appearance in the upcoming drama series and will start pre-production in the first half of this year. The Korean title of the drama series, “Pok-sak Sog-at-suda” is a Jeju dialect meaning “good work,” or “thank you for your hand work.” The drama series will unravel the adventures of Ae-soon – played by Lee Ji-eun –, a rebel born on Jeju Island in the 1950s, and Gwansik – played by Park Bo-gum –, a man hard as an iron, that took place over the four seasons.

Lee Ji-eun will be playing the role of Ae-soon, a timid girl who has a penchant for literature and a voice that trembles like a goat whenever she defies. Despite living in harsh conditions as a poor girl who cannot afford to go to school, the girl is always confident and agile.

Meanwhile, Park Bo-gum will be acting out the role of Gwan-sik, a diligent and sincere but naive character who falls in love with Ae-soon, the love to which he devotes his life.

The story these two most sought-after actors tell will be as if they illustrate a mother’s first love and a father’s heroic exploit; a tribute to one’s grandmother who was a rebel or to a grandfather who was a genuine lover.

The drama series will be based on the script written by Lim Sang-chun, who is known as the screenwriter of multiple smash-hit dramas including “Baekhee is Back,” “Fight for My Way,” and “When the Camellia Blooms.” South Korean Director Kim Won-seok, who directed “Misaeng,” “Signal,” and “Monster,” has been named as the director of the upcoming drama.
