IKSAN, SOUTH KOREA, April 27 (Yonhap) -- The city of Iksan said Monday that a record 70,000 visitors attended the "2026 Iksan Baekje Royal Palace Cultural Heritage Night" held from April 24 to 26 at the Wanggung-ri archaeological site.
The three-day event, themed "A night of the Baekje royal palace awakening under moonlight," offered a range of programs showcasing the history and culture of the Baekje Kingdom from some 1,400 years ago.
A highlight of this year’s festival was the first public unveiling of the "King’s Garden," a historic garden site within the royal palace complex, drawing keen interest from visitors.
Various experiential, performance and exhibition programs organized under the "Eight Nights" theme also attracted broad participation, enhancing the overall quality of the event.

Additional programs included a moonlight wish ceremony, a ritual walk around a pagoda symbolizing millennial wishes, a Baekje-themed quiz event and a treasure hunt.
Park Sung-il, head of the city’s cultural heritage division, said the festival has reaffirmed its status as one of the country’s leading nighttime cultural heritage events.
“We will continue to develop distinctive content unique to Iksan and ensure stable operations to further enhance the festival,” he said.
