SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Yonhap) -- "The 22nd southernmost yellow tail fish festival," based on yellow tail fish, the best fish of the Jeju winter sea, will open on Nov. 26 and be held at Moseulpo Port in Seogwipo city for 30 days until Dec. 25.
The yellow tail fish festival has been suspended or was held non-face-to-face due to COVID-19 over the past three years, but this year will be held as a face-to-face with the ease of quarantine rules.
Various hands-on events such as catching yellow tail with bare hands, auctioning fish markets, fishing Gaduri yellow tail, and tasting large yellow tail will be held around the venue.
There are also plenty of things to see and enjoy, including Female diver Song Festival, Tewak Making, tuho throwing, and children's experience zone.
The festival offers up to 30% discount on yellow tail and bushiri.
The festival committee usually hold the event for three to four days, but this year, it was decided to be held for a month to reduce the crowdness of visitors so that they could enjoy the festival more freely.
Ko Jong-seok, Minister of the Jeju Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Bureau, said, "The festival has become Jeju's representative marine culture festival with differentiated contents by local residents."
The yellow tail fish is cardigan fish, which grows up to 110cm in length.
It is known that yellow tail fish is good for preventing circulatory system diseases such as high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, myocardial infarction, and stroke because it has a lot of unsaturated fatty acids such as DHA and EPA and vitamin D.
In case of yellow tail fishes caught in the rough currents of Gapado Island and Marado Island in winter, the meat is hard and greasy.
