SEOUL January 3 (Yonhap) -- The “Ice Fishing Festival” of Hwacheon County which is considered to be one of the representative winter festivals of South Korea is undergoing its final preparation stage as the kick off of the festival is right around the corner.
According to the Hwacheon County Government on monday, they have provided everyone with the emergency treatment and moreover, they have placed AED devices and First aid kits not only at the scene of the festival but also at the program booths.
Moreover, in order to prevent uncounted incidents from happening, the county government have placed indication signs and various safety fences throughout the festival area.
Incorporated foundation Nara, which is in charge of creating the fishing field started off their creation process since December2.
Currently a snow sculpture in size of over 100m is being sculpted at the middle of the "Ice Fishing Festival" site.
Snow sculptures are created by the Chinese technicians who were in charge of creating the indoor Ice Sculpture Plaza.
Moreover, Sancheoneo (trout) has been released to the scene of the festival in order for the fish to adjust to the temperature of the water.
Continuing on the committee has installed informational booth, medical booth, emergency booth, sashimi booth, trout roasting booth and more for convenience of visitors.
The “Ice Fishing Festival” of Hwacheon County will kick off on January 7 and continue on until January 29.
Major of the Hwacheon County, Choi Moon-soon addressed “The thickness and the densitiy of the ice this year is better than any of the recent years.” adding “we will prioritize the safety of our visitors until the festival ends.”
