SEOUL, June 19 (Yonhap) –- The new song recently released by the group BTS has swept major Korean music charts, along with the UK official charts.
According to the “Official Singles Chart Top 100” released on Friday (local time) by Official Chart Company, a British music ranking provider, BTS’ new song “Yet To Come” that was released on June 10, ranked 27th on the chart.
Another new song, “Run BTS,” ranked 62nd on the chart and entered “Top 100” side by side.
The official chart, one of the most authoritative charts representing the pop market along with Billboard, ranks songs in the UK on a weekly basis based on streaming and music/album sales.
It is the first time in about 4 months since “My Universe” where BTS got on the single chart.
“My Universe,” which collaborated with the world-famous band Coldplay last year, entered the third place on the single chart after its release and stayed on the chart for 19 weeks until the February of 2022.
“Yet to Come” and “Run BTS” are songs from BTS' new album “Proof.”
The title song “Yet to Come,” featuring a gentle melody, contains a hopeful message, “You and I, best moment is yet to come.”
Immediately after its release, the song topped the “Top 100 real-time chart” (as of 2pm) on Melon, the largest music site in Korea, and showed off its popularity by taking the top spot on charts including Genie and Bugs.
In particular, this song was streamed over 7,178,605 times on the day of its release on Spotify, the world's largest music platform, and ranked third on the “Daily Top Song Global” chart (as of June 10).
People have been paying attention to the record BTS will set on the US Billboard as they are setting records on domestic and international charts one by one.
With the members announcing their so-called “2nd part of the plan” to stop team music activities for the time being and start individual activities, there is also great interest in the aftermath of it.
Considering the fact that they produced hit songs including “Dynamite” and “Butter” one after another, it is expected that the new song will also achieve positive results on the Billboard single chart or the album chart.
