HYBE America said Tuesday (local time) it has partnered with Alan Chikin Chow and Netflix to co-produce a scripted series that chronicles the formation of a new pop group.
Alan Chikin Chow runs the YouTube channel "Alan’s Universe," which boasts 99.2 million subscribers. On the channel, he presents the web drama series "Alan’s Universe," which portrays themes of teenage love and friendship.
The upcoming Netflix series will follow idol hopefuls who enroll in an arts school and form a co-ed band. Cast members will release original songs through the series and officially begin their music careers.
HYBE America and Chow formed a partnership in April last year and established a new label, "HYBE AMERICA x AU," for the project.
HYBE previously collaborated with U.S. label Geffen Records to produce global girl group KATSEYE and released a Netflix documentary series detailing the group’s debut process.
“This is a groundbreaking project that brings together HYBE America, a global leader in entertainment culture, and Netflix’s outstanding creative team to launch a new pop group,” Chow said. “We aim to deliver storytelling filled with creative inspiration and joy to fans around the world.”
