SEOUL, April 8 (Yonhap) -- Rookie five-member band Hrtz.wav made its official debut Wednesday with its first EP "The First Wave," its agency Kakao Entertainment said.

The band consists of members who each ranked first in their respective positions on Mnet’s band survival program "Steel Heart Club," the agency said.

The group is composed of Yoon Young-jun on keyboard, Rian on vocals, Dane on bass, K-ten on guitar and Hagiwa on drums.

The band’s name combines “hrtz,” referring to the frequency of hearts and sound, and “wav,” symbolizing high-quality sound and waves.

“It reflects the group’s ambition to create a new wave in the music scene,” Kakao Entertainment said.

The debut EP captures various emotions and moments of youth through refreshing band sounds, catchy melodies and dynamic energy.

It tells the story of five members with different frequencies coming together to create their first wave in a quiet world.

The album includes the title track "Nineteen," along with Rian and Dane’s self-composed song "Clumsy," the fast-paced track "Dream," the breakup-themed "Highlight" and "Our Own Story," which expresses the beginning of their journey with fans.

"Nineteen" likens the brightest yet most imperfect moments of youth to the age of 19, with all members participating in writing the lyrics.

Hrtz.wav is set to perform at various music festivals at home and abroad, including the "2026 Awesome Music Festival" and "KCON Japan 2026."
