Lotte Cinema introduces Boomax sound system in Vietnam

SEOUL, April 16 (Yonhap) -- Lotte Cinema said Thursday it has introduced its sound-specialized theater at its Go Vap branch in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This marks the first time the company has launched the format overseas. 

The special auditorium, branded "Super Plex with Boomax," is designed to deliver powerful low-frequency sound for a more immersive moviegoing experience. It combines the Super Plex large-format screen with the boomax sound system, offering enhanced immersion through both ultra-large visuals and dynamic audio.

The company said it considered the growth potential of the Vietnamese market and local audience preferences for horror and action genres in introducing the format.

Lotte Cinema plans to expand the concept in Vietnam under the global brand name “Boomax.”

In South Korea, the company currently operates 22 GwangEum Cinema screens and plans to add two more by the end of this month at its Suwan and Changwon branches.

A company official said it will continue to provide differentiated cinematic experiences to audiences both at home and abroad.
