'The Good Detective 2' which became brighter begins with rating of 3.7%

SEOUL, July 31 (Yonhap) -- The JTBC weekend drama “The Good Detective 2” starring Son Hyun-joo and Jang Seung-jo began with a rating of 3%.

According to Nielsen Korea, a ratings research company on Sunday, the first episode of “The Good Detective 2,” which aired at 10:30 p.m. the day before, had an audience rating of 3.7% (non-terrestrial paid households).

In the first episode, Kang Do-chang (Son Hyun-joo) and Oh Ji-hyeok (Jang Seung-jo) of the Violent Crimes Team two in western Incheon was depicted pursuing the suspect in the “white robe serial killer.”

When a corpse wearing a white robe and red lipstick was found at the place where the ginseng thief Kim Hyeong-bok (Kim Gyu-baek) was arrested, the the Violent Crimes Team two begins an investigation to find Kim Hyeong-bok, who was released due to insufficient evidence.

Oh Ji-hyuk finds a decisive clue and locates Kim Hyeong-bok, but the case takes an unexpected turn when Kim Hyung-bok, who was running away in fear, is hit by a truck.

“The Good Detective 2” deals with the ruthless assault case of the rich family, undercover investigations, and the pursuit of a suspect with a sense of urgency, while having the atmosphere light by having the actor’s comic performances and light background music in between.

The changes in the detectives following season 1 also drew attention.

Kang Do-chang, who struggled to clear the frame of innocent death row inmate Lee Dae-cheol last season, suffered trauma from the guilt of not being able to stop the execution in the end, and Jang Seung-jo, who had a strong cold atmosphere, showed a softer side compared to before.
