SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Yonhap) - AfreecaTV has announced on Wednesday that it has signed an MOU with VTVCab, a subsidiary of Vietnam's national broadcaster VTV, to launch a new streaming platform.
Accordingly, AfreecaTV and VTVCab plan to cooperate in developing new streaming platform services that people can enjoy content produced by local influencers and also join hands in expanding the e-sports market, which is gaining huge popularity in Vietnam.
VTVCab, which has 25 TV channels in Vietnam, provides services such as social media, e-sports, and digital payments as well as broadcasting.
Choi Young-woo, head of AfreecaTV's global business division, said, "We will continue to expand AfreecaTV's platform services and contents while entering the Southeast Asian market in earnest starting with the launch of the Vietnamese platform."
