From 'Reborn Rich' to 'Nano Machine'... Munpia celebrates 10th anniversary of establishment

SEOUL, Dec. 29 (Yonhap) -- Korea's leading web novel platform "Munpia" is celebrating its 10th anniversary of the establishment.

Naver Webtoon announced on Wednesday the progress their affiliated company Munpia has made in the past decade, saying that it has established a solid foothold as the platform that produces intellectual property rights of original stories.

Munpia is an open platform for web novels specialized in fantasy and martial arts genres, and around 70,000 works have been serialized so far.

Some hit works are "Omniscent Reader" in which unpopular novel becomes reality and "Reborn Rich," where a salary man of conglomerate returns as a family member of chaebol family.

After the company incorporated into Naver Webtoon last Sept., it has been providing original Intellectual properties (IP) that can expand to webtoon, drama, etc., positioning itself as one of value chains.

Popular web novels including "Omniscent Reader," "Gaming Stream of the Genius," "I Become a Student at the Transcendental Academy," etc. have been made into webtoons.

Among them, "Reborn Rich" has attracted great poplarity after it was recently produced as a drama, while "Omniscient Reader" and "Nano Machine" are topping "the most popular webtoon for male readers" chart among Wednesday and Thursday webtoons, respectively, on Naver webtoon.

Munpia CEO Son Je-ho said, "We will expand the base of web novel market by keep discovering original stories which global markets are interested in."
