Kpop Entertainment Fair 'MU:Con Seoul 2024' Opens This Month

SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- The music and entertainment fair "MU:Con Seoul 2024," which gathers artists and professionals from the domestic and international music industries, will open later this month. 

 

The Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 12th that the event will take place from the 24th to the 27th across Seoul's Hannam and Hongdae districts.

 

MU:Con Seoul 2024 aims to support the overseas expansion of Korean popular music musicians and businesses while promoting networking within the music industry. This year's event will feature showcases with 53 teams of artists from Korea and abroad, along with open sessions and workshops sharing trends in the global music and entertainment industry.

 

The showcases will be held on the 26th and 27th at various venues in Hongdae, including the Shinhan Card Solfege Square Live Hall, Musinsa Garage, and Hodge Podge Café. Artists such as Nell, BewhY, Seori, and Yudabin Band will perform on the first day, while TripleS, Peppertones, The Solutions, and Primrose will take the stage on the second day. International performers will include Taiwanese girl group Genblue, Thai solo artist Ally, and the band Rocketman.

 

Open sessions and workshops with global music experts will take place from the 24th to the 26th at the Grand Hyatt Seoul in Hannam-dong. Topics will include creating performance opportunities through content and generating new revenue streams through intellectual property (IP). Industry professionals such as Helena Kosinski, Global Vice President of Luminate, a Billboard data management company, and Ryan Farley, CEO of Cooking Vinyl Publishing, will be among the speakers.

 

The Korea Creative Content Agency will also provide pre-event education and business meetings to support the international expansion of Korean musicians and music companies attending MU

. This year’s event will be held in conjunction with the '2024 MWM Conference,' organized by the Korea Music Content Association, which will explore the impact of AI and virtual artists on the music industry.
