SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Yonhap) – South Korean veteran actress Kim Hye-ja, who recently made an appearance in tvN’s drama series “Our Blues,” has been climbing up the Kyobo Bookstore’s Best Sales Chart with her second book “Thank You for Life.”

Her second book claimed the No.2 spot on the Chart, jumping from No.86 on the last week’s Chart. Her book came after author Kim Hye-nam’s book “If I Live My Life Again,” which won first place for 2 consecutive weeks, according to the best seller ranking for the third week of January compiled by Kyobo Bookstore on Friday.

Kyobo Bookstore, the largest South Korean bookstore chain, analyzed that the ranking soared after the author’s appearance on the popular South Korean TV talk show “You Quiz on the Block.” The main readers of her book were in their 30s and 50s: Those in their 40s accounted for 27.7%, and there was no significant gap between readers in their 30s (25.0%) and those in their 50s (24.0%). In terms of gender, female readers over male readers by 70.2% to 29.8%.

The veteran actress’ book is also making new records online: In the online bookstore Yes24, her book also made a sensation by topping the bestseller list. Sales surged 19 times compared to the previous week also after her appearance on the talk show on Jan. 11.

A non-fiction self-help book “The One Thing” ranked No.3 on the Kyobo Bookstore’s Best Sales Chart, up two notches from last week. South Korean author Kim Ho-yeon’s novel “Inconvenient Convenience Store” and Ichiro Masaki’s novel “Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight” ranked No.4 and No.5, respectively. “Trend Korea 2023” stayed on the chart as No.6, down four notches from last week.

The self-help book “The Law of Psychology of My Mind” and “Mr. President” written by the former Blue House protocol secretary Tak entered the chart as No.7 and No.8, respectively.
