SEOUL, July 30 (Yonhap) -- "I think life is walking with my fans, not alone. I can't give up because I have to repay them."

Thai singer Mew Suppasit attributed his success to fans in an interview with Yonhap News in Gangnam on Wednesday. He visited S.Korea to film Korean-Thai collaborative drama “Love Is Like a Cat,” which is to be aired next year.

Mew Suppasit is Thai actor and singer who gained popularity in drama “TharnType: The Series” in 2019. He was also the first Thai singer to be listed on the Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart.

He entered the entertainment industry when he appeared as an extra in an advertisement in 2009.

Mew Suppasit said, “When I was in high school, I attended an academy in Bangkok, and I got a casting offer saying, ‘You have a nice body and face. How about trying to model for an advertisement?’” adding, “Back then, Because I was taller than the main character, I didn't get into the camera angle and did not appear in the advertisement.”

Mew Suppasit who wanted to act went to three or four advertising agencies a day but was turned down every time. 6 years of anonymity continued where he would appear on only 10 advertisements when he auditioned for 100.

After graduating from college, he went to an acting academy and worked tirelessly for two years. He said, “There was a time when I practiced acting for a week with no rest.”

Mew Suppasit did not give up and appeared in dramas and commercials, gradually gaining recognition as an actor. He also challenged himself to the music industry. COVID-19 pandemic gave him an opportunity to look back on himself.

He said, “I had a lot of time to look back on myself during the pandemic,” adding, “Thinking about what I want to do, I began my music career.”

Mew Suppasit released collaboration song “SPACEMAN” with British pop duo “Honne” last year, beginning global collaboration. He then released a collaboration song “Before 4:30” in the R&B genre with Korean singer Sam Kim.

He recalled, “When I was working with Honne, I was very nervous and recorded for 7 hours in a row,” adding “I remember being tired when I could not rest as everyone was working so hard.” He then said, “It was 7 hours with Honne, but with Sam Kim, it was 3 days.”

Mew Suppasit released a collaboration song “Forever Love” with singer Bumkey on July 8. He said, “He treated me really kindly and made me comfortable,” adding, “It was a very valuable experience to work with him.”

When asked if there is an artist he would like to collaborate with next, Mew Suppasit said, "I have a lot in my mind, but I have already decided who I will collaborate with next. I think I will record a collaboration song before I go back to Thailand." He also revealed that the artist is a Korean singer.
