‘Captain America 4’ Continues Box Office Success in Korea

SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Yonhap) -- Marvel Studios’ latest release, Captain America: Brave New World (hereafter Captain America 4), is expected to maintain its strong box office performance this weekend.

According to the Korea Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on Friday, Captain America 4 topped the box office the previous day, attracting over 43,000 moviegoers and securing a 43.5% revenue share. It maintained a significant lead over second-place Secret: Untold Melody (9,000 viewers, 9.2%) and third-place Hitman 2 (7,000 viewers, 7.5%).

Since its release on the 12th, Captain America 4 has consistently held the top spot, with total admissions reaching approximately 996,000.

The film is expected to compete with the newly released Korean romance movie You Are the Apple of My Eye, which hit theaters the same day.

As of 9 a.m. Friday, Captain America 4 had over 65,000 advance ticket sales (19.0% booking rate), while ou Are the Apple of My Eye recorded around 34,000 pre-sales (10.2%).

Directed by Jo Young-myung, ou Are the Apple of My Eye is a remake of the Taiwanese film of the same name, depicting the youthful romance between high school students Jin-woo (played by Jinyoung) and Seon-ah (played by Dahyun).
