Gucci cancels upcoming fashion show due to Itaewon Stampede incident

SEOUL October 31 (Yonhap) -- Widely known designer brand Gucci decided to cancel their event expected to kick off at the Gyungbokgung Palace in November due to the unfortunate incident happened in Itaewon on the night of the Halloween.

“After careful consideration with the Cultural Heritage Administration, fashion show planned on November 1 at Gyungbokgung Palace will be canceled.” addressed Gucci through advertising agency in South Korea on Monday.

Continuing on Gucci addressed, “We would like to send our deepest condolences to those who have lost their lives due to the unfortunate Itaewon Stampede incident happened in October 29” adding “We would like to participate in the national mourning week.”

Gucci’s fashion show which was expected to kick off on the afternoon of November 1 at the Geunjeongjeon Hall of Gyungbokgung Palace were to feature the collection of Gucci Cosmogonie.

Cosmogonie which is a new collection introduced by the creative director Alessandro Michele was recently introduced at the UNESCO World Heritage site “Castel Del Monte” in southern Italy in May of 2022.

Since the collection was inspired by the astronomy Gucci planned on hosting the fashion show at the highly significant heritage site of South Korea, Gyungbokgung Palace, and planned on inviting over 500 individuals from celebrities to ambassadors and more.

However, due to unexpected catastrophe, after careful consideration, Gucci decided to cancel their event.
