SEOUL April 24 (Yonhap) -- One of the most famous Esports event League of Legend, shortened as LOL’s competition “2023 LoL World Championship” will kick off on November 19 at South Korea’s biggest indoor stadium “Gocheok Sky Dome.”
LoL World Championship is the battle between the highly ranked teams from various leagues throughout the world.
Seoul City Government has been reaching out Seoul Tourism Organization, KeSPA, and various other supporters starting in May.
Throughout the process, the government has made a deal regarding the usage of Gocheok Sky Dome, rules and regulations regarding the championship match, and more. Moreover, they have agreed upon ESG, and cooperative plans between small medium sized games.
Continuing on, by hosting such a grand event Seoul City Government plans to advertise Seoul to become more attractive to foreign visitors and base the event to further the process of R&A of various events to attract more visitors.
On April 8 and 9, final rounds of “League of Legend Champions Korea” shortened as LCK took place at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium. The collaborative event between LCK and Seoul City Government attracted over 20 thousand audiences.
League of Legend which was developed by American game company Riot Games, has been selected one of the segments of Esports during Hangzhou Aisan Games in September of 2022.
Out of various Esports events LoL has managed to attract the most amount of viewers and in 2021, over seven thousand audiences viewed the event simultaneously.
Seoul City Government is currently supporting the one-stop process of development of the games and are planning on entrant various South Korean games to foreign markets.
Moreover, the government has decided to increase the fun on supporting the expanding the Esports business by 42 percent and opened up various sides regarding the subject. Continuing on Seoul City Government plans to increase the interest regarding the Esports culture, and engagement regarding various sides to the industry to develop Seoul into a “Game City Seoul” in near future.
