Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon (L) and Asan Mayor Park Kyung-gwi jointly spray water on the statue of Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) Adm. Yi Sun-sin at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul on April 25, 2023, as part of activities to celebrate the 478th anniversary on April 28 of the birth of Yi, who led the Korean Navy against Japanese invaders in the 16th century. The water used in the cleaning was drawn from a well in the premises of Hyeonchung Shrine dedicated to Yi in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, central South Korea. (Yonhap)
