SEOUL, May 5 (Yonhap) -- On the 6th, the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO) unveiled a banknote-type of a commemorative medal with the theme of the national treasure, Pensive Bodhisattva.
The front of the medal, created in collaboration with the National Museum of Korea was designed to resemble a bank note.
On the back, it has depicted the warm smile of the Pensive Bodhisattva that also looks like it is in deep thought by enlarging the face.
200 gold medals (99.9% purity with a weight of 20g) and 2,000 silver medals (99.9% purity with a weight of 10g) were made.
"We planned a monumental work of an oriental Buddhist engraver as a bill-shaped model," CEO of Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, Ban Jang-sik said, "I think it's meaningful to be able to tell more people about the Korean culture."
The medals will be sold through shopping malls and in Orodt and Diyum Hall through reservations from the 9th till the 27th.
