SEOUL, Apr. 18 (Yonhap) -- A Minke Whale was found dead being caught in a net near the sea in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang province.
According to Pohang Marine Police Station on the 18th, a 24 ton fishing boat found a dead Minke Whale which died being caught in a fish trap in the sea about 78km southeast of Gampo port in Gampo eup, Gyeongju city at 1:30 p.m. on the day before, and reported it to the Coast Guard.
This Mink Whale is 7.1m in length, and 3.3m in circumference.
The coast guard issued a confirmation of whale since there were no signs of intentional capture using harpoons ro spears.
The whale was traded in 37.8 million won (US$30,716.72) in Pohang Guryongpo Suhyup (National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives).
