SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Yonhap) -- Voices of support and celebration emerged from the Korean entertainment industry over the weekend, following the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol on Saturday. 

 

Several actors and singers took to their social media accounts on Sunday to express their thoughts on the impeachment decision, marking the event with personal reflections.

 

Actor Lee Dong-wook shared on a fan communication platform, "It feels like spring is one step closer. I hope we have a warm end to the year."

 

Actress Go Min-si posted a news headline reading Impeachment Motion Passed on her social media, accompanied by multiple clapping emojis. She also shared a video showing a protest flag bearing the words The People Are the Owners waving in the air.

Actor Heo Sung-tae wrote on social media, "Smile, be joyful, it feels like being reborn. Let’s passionately pursue happiness in our own ways. Long live the Republic of Korea!"

 

Actor Lee Jun-hyuk posted a photo of himself giving a thumbs-up, signaling his approval.

 

Seohyun, a member of Girls’ Generation and an actress, uploaded a photo of the cover of Han Kang’s novel The Boy is Coming with the caption, "We’ll stick together no matter what." The phrase references lyrics from Into the New World, Girls’ Generation's debut song, which has been used as an anthem at impeachment rallies.

 

Singer Park Hyo-shin expressed his hopes, writing, "I pray today can be a source of comfort for us beyond any words," while singer P.O shared a photo of a candlelight with clapping emojis, symbolizing his support.

 

The entertainment industry's outpouring of reactions highlights the cultural resonance of the political event and its impact on artists and fans alike.
