FM Cho discusses Middle East situation with Indian, Vietnamese counterparts

SEOUL, March 10 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held separate phone talks with his Indian and Vietnamese counterparts Tuesday to discuss the situation in the Middle East, the foreign ministry said.

In talks with India's External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the two sides agreed to maintain close communication on safety measures for their citizens as the situation in the Middle East unfolds, according to the ministry.

Jaishankar also said his country seeks to further develop bilateral ties through active high-level exchanges and called for efforts to expand economic cooperation, it said.

In a phone call with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, both sides shared concerns over the recent situation in the Middle East and agreed to expand cooperation for increased bilateral trade and investment, as well as stable supply chains, according to the ministry.
