FM visits Yi Jun museum

Foreign Minister Park Jin touches a statue of independence fighter and diplomat Yi Jun (1859-1907) at the Yi Jun Peace Museum in The Hague, Netherlands, on Feb. 17, 2023, in this photo released by the ministry. In July 1907, Yi and two other Koreans were dispatched to the Second Hague Peace Conference in the Dutch city as delegates of Emperor Gojong to announce Korea was an independent country and Japan's colonization of Korea was unlawful. But Japan convinced the other delegates not to let the Koreans participate in the conference. Yi was later found dead in his room at the De Jong Hotel in an apparent suicide.
