N. Korea says it will restore all military measures halted under 2018 inter-Korean military accord
SEOUL, Nov. 23 (Yonhap) -- North Korea said Thursday it will immediately restore all military measures halted under 2018 inter-Korean military accord after South Korea suspend part of the tension reduction deal following the North's launch of a military spy satellite.
The North's defense ministry said it will "not be restrained" by the military agreement any more, warning that the South will pay a harsh price over its decision.
"We will withdraw military measures taken to prevent military tensions and clashes in all areas such as land, sea and air, and will place strong armed forces and advanced military equipment in border areas," the North said.
South Korea partially suspended the 2018 inter-Korean military accord after North Korea launched a military spy satellite, called the Malligyong-1, Tuesday night. The move allows Seoul to immediately restore reconnaissance and surveillance operations near the border with North Korea.
