China's Xi congratulates N. Korean leader on reelection to top leadership post
SEOUL, March 26 (Yonhap) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated North Korean leader Kim Jong-un Thursday on his reelection as president of the state affairs commission, a Chinese news report said.
Xi delivered the message to Kim, the Xinhua News Agency said, after Kim was elected to the post for a third consecutive term at the first session of the newly formed 15th Supreme People's Assembly earlier this week.
Xi called North Korea-China relations "a valuable asset," reaffirming China's "unwavering policy" to advance ties.
"Xi said he attaches great importance to developing China-DPRK relations, and is willing to work with Kim to jointly advance the traditional friendship between the two countries and better benefit both countries and their peoples," Xinhua said.
DPRK stands for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, North Korea's official name.
