FM Park holds talks with Central African Republic counterpart

SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Park Jin held talks with his counterpart from the Central African Republic on Monday and discussed bilateral relations and cooperation, including South Korea's envisioned summit involving African nations, Park's office said.

In the talks with Sylvie Baipo-Temon, Park held out expectations that the Central African Republic's President Faustin-Archange Touadera will visit South Korea next year to attend the South Korea-Africa summit.

South Korea is preparing to hold the summit in the first half of the year.

Park also asked for the republic's support for Seoul's bid to host the 2030 World Expo in its southeastern city of Busan. The winner will be announced in Paris on Tuesday (local time).

During the talks, they also discussed efforts to boost economic cooperation, particularly in the agriculture and development fields, the foreign ministry said.
