SEOUL -- North Korea's state media on Friday touted its robust relations with China, reaffirming its commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties as the two nations mark the 64th anniversary of their mutual defense treaty.
"It is the unwavering position of our party and the republic to ceaselessly strengthen and develop the friendly relations between North Korea and China," the Rodong Sinmun newspaper reported.

SEOUL -- The Chinese Embassy in North Korea has hosted a reception to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the signing of a mutual defense treaty between the two nations, Pyongyang's state media reported Thursday.
The event came as North Korea's ties with China, the North's traditional ally, showed some signs of improvement after their bilateral relationship remained cool amid Pyongyang's close alignment with Moscow over Russia's war with Ukraine.

SEOUL, July 10 (Yonhap) -- North Korea on Thursday lauded Korean War veterans and their battlefield achievements ahead of the country's 72nd anniversary of the Korean War armistice.

N. Korea sends congratulatory message to new Palestinian FM: KCNA
SEOUL -- North Korea's Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui has sent a congratulatory message to Palestine's new foreign minister, the North's state media reported Wednesday.
In the message sent last Saturday to the new Palestinian foreign minister, Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Choe expressed hope that their bilateral friendly relations could be further developed, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

N. Korea calls for loyalty to its leader on founder's death anniversary
SEOUL -- North Korea called for continued loyalty to leader Kim Jong-un as it marked the 31st anniversary of the death of his grandfather and state founder Kim Il-sung, according to state media Wednesday.
"Everyone should join in advancing the dignity and might of our invincible state, the great Korea of Kim Jong-un, by upholding the party's revolutionary ideology as the highest priority and dedicating themselves to the struggle for the prosperity of our-style socialism," the Rodong Sinmun newspaper reported.

Heat wave scorches North Korea
SEOUL -- A heat wave is scorching North Korea, with daytime high temperatures in the capital expected to reach up to 34 C, state media reported Wednesday.
The morning low in Pyongyang was 25 C in the day, about 4 C higher than the average, and the day's high is forecast to reach 34 C, the Korean Central Broadcasting Station reported.

SEOUL -- Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit North Korea later this week, the North's state media reported Wednesday.

SEOUL -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Tuesday visited a mausoleum for late state founder Kim Il-sung to mark the 31st anniversary of his death, the North's state media reported.
Kim visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun to pay tribute to the late leader at midnight, flanked by key party officials, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

SEOUL -- North Korea has convened a plenary meeting of the Cabinet as a follow-up to the latest key party meeting in an effort to inspect the implementation of the country's five-year economic development plan, state media reported Tuesday.
The North held an enlarged plenary meeting of the Cabinet the previous day, attended by Premier Pak Thae-song and other key officials, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

SEOUL -- North Korea has sent a congratulatory message to the reelected chairman of the central committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, according to the North's state media on Monday.
The North's Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) sent the message dated Saturday to Gennady Andreyevich Zyuganov, who was unanimously reelected that day as chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation's Central Committee, according to the Korean Central News Agency.

N. Korea highlights state founder Kim Il-sung's leadership ahead of the 31st anniv. of his death
SEOUL -- North Korea on Monday heaped praise on state founder Kim Il-sung, recalling his leadership as flawless as the country marks the 31st anniversary of the late leader's death this week.
"Our great leader led the revolution to victory without a single mistake (of deviating from) the policy line or showing even the slightest bias," the Rodong Sinmun, the North's most widely read newspaper, reported, calling Kim "a peerless great man."
