Hybe expands Latin American presence with launch of new label

SEOUL, Feb. 5 (Yonhap) -- K-pop powerhouse Hybe has launched a new label targeting Latin America and signed a local music star, strengthening its efforts to expand in one of the fastest-growing music markets in the world.

Hybe Latin America announced Wednesday that it has established Docemil Music and signed Meme del Real as its first artist.

Meme del Real is a member and producer of the Mexican rock band Cafe Tacvba, a multiple Latin Grammy Award-winning group recognized for Best Rock Song, Best Alternative Song, and Best Duo/Group honors.

Coinciding with the contract signing, Meme del Real released a new song titled "Princesa." The track will be included on his solo debut album, set for release later this year.

"Meme del Real joining Docemil Music demonstrates that Hybe can support Latin American artists and back their unlimited creativity," Jonghyun 'JH' Kah, CEO of Hybe Latin America, said in a statement. "We are very excited about the future we will create together with the artists."
