Traditional ceremony in honor of Confucian sages

Confucian scholars clad in traditional clothing attend the autumn "Seokjeon Daeje" ceremony at Daegu Hyanggyo, an educational institute of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), in the southeastern city of Daegu on Sept. 25, 2025. The ceremonial rite is performed twice annually to pay homage to the Chinese sage Confucius and other renowned Confucian figures at Confucian sites across South Korea on Confucius' birthday in fall and the anniversary of his death in spring.
