Hanwha Systems-maintenance deal
Hanwha Systems wins 112 bln-won deal for K2 tank weapons system maintenance
SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Yonhap) -- Hanwha Systems Co. said Wednesday it has secured a 112.3 billion-won (US$78.2 million) contract from the South Korean arms procurement agency to provide maintenance support for the K2 tank weapons system.
Under the deal with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the company will offer maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service for the K2 tank's fire control system.
The fire control system calculates the position and speed of targets, predicting positions and enabling precise aiming and firing of the tank's main gun.
For over 30 years, Hanwha Systems has developed and supplied fire control systems for various weapons systems, including the K2 tank, K21 armored vehicle and the K9 self-propelled howitzer.
For the project, Hanwha Systems said it will use its proprietary MRO platform, called TOMMS, for maintaining and supporting the weapons system.
