Gangneung Dano Festival begins

Citizens gather for a photo during a ceremony to contribute rice for the preparation of "sinju" (libations) to be used in the traditional rituals of the Gangneung Dano Festival in Gangneung, 163 kilometers east of Seoul, in the lobby of Gangneung City Hall on April 24, 2024. The ceremony marks the commencement of the yearly festival, recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, wherein attendees offer prayers for favorable weather conditions conducive to farming, fishing and a bountiful harvest.
