Opposition leader's aide sentenced to 5-yr prison term
Kim Yong, a former deputy head of the main opposition Democratic Party's think tank and a close aide to the party's leader, Lee Jae-myung, appears at the Seoul Central District Court in the capital on Nov. 30, 2023, to hear the ruling over a bribery scandal linked to a development project launched when Lee was the mayor of Seongnam, south of Seoul. Kim was sentenced to a five-year prison term on bribery and illegal political fund charges connected to the scandal and immediately taken into custody in the courtroom. (Yonhap)
