Fire erupts at SPC Samlip plant in Siheung

SIHEUNG, South Korea, Feb. 3 (Yonhap) -- A fire broke out at a factory owned by confectionery company SPC Samlip on Tuesday, authorities said, with no casualties reported so far.

The plant in Siheung, some 30 kilometers southwest of Seoul, caught fire around 3 p.m., and some 70 firefighters and other personnel were sent to the scene to put out the blaze and search for possible victims.

Firefighting authorities ordered a Level 1 response, which calls for mobilizing up to 50 pieces of equipment from three to seven fire stations.
