Lee asks foreign firms to expand investment in S. Korea

SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung on Wednesday urged foreign firms to expand their investment in South Korea, saying the Korean market "still remains undervalued" and has strong potential for further growth.

Lee made the remarks at a meeting with seven foreign chambers of commerce, including the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM), and senior executives of key foreign-invested firms in Seoul.

"The South Korean market still remains undervalued and given its exceptional human capital and physical fundamentals, we are confident that it has strong potential for further growth and development," he said.

Lee also reassured the executives that his administration will continue efforts to avoid unnecessary military tensions with North Korea.

"We will avoid unnecessary military confrontation or tensions with North Korea," he said, stressing that he intends to maintain stability in the region to ease concerns over geopolitical risks even if South Korea needs to make "some concessions."
