Key suspect in vote-buying scandal
Kang Rae-koo, an auditor of the state-run Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., arrives at the Seoul Central District Court on May 8, 2023, to undergo a hearing on his arrest warrant sought by the prosecution for the second time in relation to an electoral bribery scandal involving the main opposition Democratic Party's race to elect its new leader in May 2021. Kang is suspected of having given money to dozens of DP lawmakers and representatives in exchange for their votes for runner Song Young-gil ahead of the election. Song won the election by a slim margin. (Yonhap)
