Hyundai, LG Energy to build joint battery plant in U.S.
This photo, provided by the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group, shows a signing ceremony for a contract between the South Korean carmaker and LG Energy Solution to set up a 50:50 joint venture to build a battery cell plant in the United States with an investment of 5.7 trillion won (US$4.3 billion). The plant with an annual capacity of 30 gigawatt-hours will be constructed near Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle (EV) and battery plant under construction in Georgia.
