Traditional ceremony in honor of Confucian sages

People clad in traditional clothing take part in the spring "Seokjeon Daeje" ceremony at Incheon Hyanggyo, an educational institute of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), in Incheon, west of Seoul, on May 11, 2026. The ceremonial rite is performed twice annually to pay homage to the Chinese sage Confucius and other renowned Confucian figures at Confucian sites across South Korea on Confucius' birthday in fall and the anniversary of his death in spring.
