12th anniversary of Sewol ferry sinking
The salvaged Sewol ferry is placed at a port in Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, southwestern South Korea, on April 16, 2026, the 12th anniversary of the 2014 deadly sinking of the ferry that claimed more than 300 lives, mostly teenagers on a school excursion. (Yonhap)
