S. Korea suspends part of 2018 inter-Korean military accord
Deputy Minister for National Defense Policy Heo Tae-keun speaks during a press conference at the defense ministry in Seoul on Nov. 22, 2023, to announce South Korea will immediately restore reconnaissance and surveillance operations against North Korea in the area around the Military Demarcation Line separating the two Koreas after the government approved a motion to suspend part of a 2018 inter-Korean military agreement designed to reduce border tensions and prevent accidental clashes. The decision came on the heels of the North's placing of a spy satellite into orbit the previous day to secure its reconnaissance capabilities against South Korea. (Pool photo) (Yonhap)
