All COVID-19 restrictions lifted
Students without masks raise their hands in a class at an elementary school in Daejeon, 164 kilometers south of Seoul, on June 1, 2023, when the level of the national crisis for the new coronavirus was lowered from "serious" to "alert." The downgrade virtually lifted all quarantine regulations, including the obligatory isolation of COVID-19 patients and a mask mandate in most places, except for hospitals. This change came after the country had seen its first coronavirus case on Jan. 20, 2020. (Yonhap)
