Lee to host lunch for lawmakers who push for bills on capital markets
By Kim Eun-jung
SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung is set to host a luncheon meeting Thursday with ruling party lawmakers who have pushed for bills aimed at revitalizing capital markets, Cheong Wa Dae said.
The pre-scheduled meeting would coincide with a bullish stock market, as the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index topped 5,000 points for the first time earlier in the day.
The government has introduced a series of measures to boost shareholder returns and ensure transparency in stock trading.
The lawmakers are involved in the ruling Democratic Party's special committee on the revitalization of capital markets.
On Wednesday, Lee told a press conference that the nation's stock market has still been undervalued due to security risks, opaque corporate governance structures and unfair trading practices, adding that the market is now on a normalization track.
