
Excavation of Korean War soldier's remains
This photo, provided by the defense ministry on March 30, 2023, shows the remains of Ssg. Heo Chang-sik, a South Korean soldier killed in the 1950-53 Korean War, which were retrieved from a site in Inje, 126 kilometers northeast of Seoul, in May 2011. They have been identified as his thanks to a DNA sample provided by his younger brother. South Korea has so far identified the remains of 207 service members killed in the three-year conflict since it launched the excavation project in 2000. (PHOTO NOT FOR SALE) (Yonhap)
