S. Korea's Busan comes up short in World Expo bid
South Korean delegates, including former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (front row, 2nd from R) and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo (front row, 3rd from L), look dejected during the 173rd general assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions at the Palais des Congres in Paris on Nov. 28, 2023, after South Korea failed to win its bid to host the 2030 World Expo in its city of Busan. In the first round of voting at the assembly, Saudi Arabia's Riyadh won a resounding victory over Busan and Italy's Rome without a runoff vote. (Yonhap)
