Corporate direct financing rises 8.5 pct in Feb. on bond, stock offerings
SEOUL, March 31 (Yonhap) -- Corporate direct financing increased in February from the previous month on the back of a rise in both bond sales and stocks offerings, data showed Tuesday.
Local companies raised a combined 19.25 trillion won (US$12.76 billion) last month by selling stocks and bonds, up 1.51 trillion won, or 8.5 percent, from a month earlier, according to the data from the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).
Stock sales more than tripled to 341 billion won last month from a month earlier, and corporate bond sales also rose 1.27 trillion won, or 7.2 percent, to 18.91 trillion won over the cited period.
The value of outstanding corporate bonds stood at 748.45 trillion won as of end-February, down 4.41 trillion won, or 0.6 percent, from a month earlier, the data showed.
