(LEAD) K-pop Star Wheesung (Realslow) Found Dead at Home This Afternoon

SEOUL, March 10 (Yonhap) -- K-pop star singer Wheesung, 43, was found dead on Monday, investigators said. 

According to police and his agency, Wheesung was discovered collapsed in an apartment in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, at approximately 6:29 p.m.

Tajo Entertainment, Wheesung’s agency, stated, “Our artist Wheesung has left us,” adding, “He was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead.”

The agency continued, “His sudden passing has left his family, fellow artists at Tajoy Entertainment, and all our staff in deep sorrow. We will provide further details regarding the funeral arrangements separately.”

Emergency responders were dispatched after receiving a report from Wheesung’s mother.

An anonymous aide of Wheesung said, “(Wheesung) returned from China yesterday. He was supposed to meet his manager today, but when he didn’t answer calls, his mother, who lives in the same apartment building, went downstairs and found him collapsed. She then called emergency services.” 

Police have not found any signs of forced entry or criminal activity so far and are investigating the presence of a suicide note and the exact circumstances of his death.
