SEOUL, May 8 (Yonhap) -- EDAM Entertainment, the agency of singer WOODZ, apologized Friday over controversy surrounding the recruitment of unpaid staff for the artist's concert in Germany.
The agency said it confirmed the facts regarding the unpaid staff recruitment with the local concert organizer and expressed regret for failing to sufficiently review the matter in advance.
"We sincerely apologize for not thoroughly examining the issue beforehand," EDAM Entertainment said.
The agency added it will closely discuss the matter with the local organizer to ensure necessary measures are taken regarding shortcomings in concert operations.
"We will strengthen communication with local partners and conduct more careful reviews so that the overall concert operation process proceeds smoothly in the future," it said.
The controversy arose after an online community post seeking staff for WOODZ's "Archive.1" world tour concert in Germany drew criticism.
The post said volunteers working on the day of the concert would be assigned duties such as crowd control and merchandise booth operations. Preference would be given to applicants fluent in Korean, German and English and those with experience at K-pop concerts.
The recruitment notice became controversial because it stated that only meals and concert admission would be provided, with no financial compensation.
The post was reportedly uploaded by an individual claiming to be an acquaintance of a concert official.
WOODZ is scheduled to hold solo concerts in Berlin on June 7 and Frankfurt on June 12.
