SEOUL, April 22 (Yonhap) -- The movie “Confession,” starring So Ji-sub and Kim Yun-jin, is selected as the closing film of the 24th Far East Film Festival in Italy, according to distribution company Lotte Entertainment, Friday.
“Confession” directed by Yoon Jong-seok, tells the story of a promising entrepreneur who is found by the police locked in a room with a murdered body and a top-level defense attorney who wants to prove him innocent. The two try to frame the missing pieces of the night.
So plays the murder suspect, Yoo Min-ho, and Kim plays the attorney Yang Shin-ae.
The film, which finished shooting in February 2020, was planned to release last year but was postponed due to COVID-19.
Director Kim Se-in’s film “The Apartment with Two Women” and Oh Se-yeon’s film “Fanatic,” have also been invited to the film festival.
“The Apartment with Two Women,” which questions the dysfunctional mother and daughter relationship, will be screened in the competitive sector.
The movie took home last year’s Busan International Film Festival awards including the New Currents Competition Award, Watcha Award, NETPAC Award, and the Audience Award. The film was also screened in the non-competitive Panorama section at the Berlin International Film Festival last February.
“Fanatic,” which was screened for the first time at Busan International Film Festival, is a black comedy documentary that follows the journey of fans who suffer from a particular idol who is mired in a scandal. The film will be screened in the non-competitive sector.
“King Maker,” “Special Delivery,” and “Tomb of the River” have also been invited to screen in the competitive sector.
Far East Film Festival held in Udine, Italy, is the biggest film festival in Europe in promoting Asian Cinemas and introducing Korean films. This year’s festival will be open until April 30, 2022.
