SEOUL, April 30 (Yonhap) -- Director Lee Ju-hyoung’s third feature film “APORIA” won a gold award at the 55th Worldfest Houston International Film Festival, according to the production company, Saturday.
The movie “APORIA” portrays the story of a Syrian refugee who has left his home country to avoid civil war and the difficulties he faces to meet his family. Real refugees and non-professional actors participated in this work based on a true story.
Director Lee produced films including “Red Family” (2013) and “Excavator” (2017).
Director Hong Jun-pyo’s “Hope” also won a silver award in the festival's short film category. The movie contains the message that if you don’t lose hope in chaos and darkness, you will see the light someday.
